Do you take insurance?

Ambient Healing is an out of network provider that can supply an insurance reimbursement receipt. This receipt can be sent to your respective insurance company to be reimbursed based on your coverage. If you are unsure about this process, reach out and I can help parse out the details.

Also note that your HSA/FSA card can be applied towards treatment.

Is acupuncture painful?

It shouldn’t be! While you’ll feel various sensations throughout the treatment, pain should never be one of them — if there ever is pain, just let the practitioner know and it can easily be adjusted. After the application of the needles, there is a calm ~30 minute retention period that feels great!

Are there side effects?

Some risks (if performed by an untrained person) include: bruising, nerve damage, organ puncture (ie pneumothorax), or lingering pain. To become a licensed professional who performs acupuncture, you are taught all the ways to prevent any such occurrences. They are rather simple steps such as:

  • Don’t needle obvious blood vessels

  • Don’t go too deep over known dangerous areas

  • Don’t perform acupuncture on those with limited sensation

As long as the treatment is performed by a trained professional and these precautions are followed, no real harm is possible.

How often do I need to come in?

This is always determined on a case-by-case basis but in general, a treatment plan can look like 3-5 weekly visits to get proper results that last. Maintenance of the effects can be monthly or bi-monthly if needed.

Are you available outside of your listed hours?

Reach out and we can discuss! The beauty of this medicine is that heavy equipment is not needed so it is highly mobile. There is ideally space for a massage table for outcalls. Pricing will be adjusted to accommodate travel and time.
